We spent a couple of days here to celebrate my parents renewing their wedding vows, and I already miss the experience. The staff were wonderful throughout our stay. They even brought up complimentary champagne, a note, and chocolates for the occasion. Kimberly at Ridley's Market deserves a special mention. She’s vivacious and lovely, and a real asset to The Ritz Sarasota. We’ll be back.

We enjoyed dinner at Jack Dusty. The brown bread alone was worth it, and the scallops and salads were delicious too. We added grilled shrimp, which were plump and juicy. The staff were outstanding, and the rooms felt luxurious, clean, and well appointed, as you’d expect from the Ritz. The location just before the bridge to the beach is worth knowing about. The shuttles are efficient, and the Beach Club 3 miles away is worth the trip. We also liked being within .5 mile walking distance of Main St and the Saturday Farmer’s Market, and 1 mile from the Botanical Gardens. It’s a large property and felt full, with several weddings and conferences. The hallways and lobbies were noisy in the evenings, and the onsite pool gets little sun, so it can feel chilly on windy days. We’re happy to recommend the hotel if you’re not set on staying right on the beach. Kudos to the top-notch staff.

The spa was clean and professionally run, and I had two great treatments: a facial with Susan and a nourish glow massage with Christina. Christina did the massage exactly as I asked. Gloria, the spa attendant, was sweet and helpful, and the gentlemen at the valet were very friendly. Valet was complimentary for the spa visit. I also enjoyed coffee on the spa terrace and lunch at their outdoor restaurant overlooking the water.

It’s past 4pm and we’re still waiting to check in, even though my husband has titanium elite status. Delays happen, but giving elite members better priority would have made this feel more positive. We were told there had been “a lot of late checkouts,” so we hope we’ll get the same courtesy and be allowed a late checkout after this late arrival. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff have consistently been kind and welcoming. It has access to an off-site beach club. While we waited, we followed the suggestion to use the pool and restaurant, but we’d already been there for over four hours. Swarms of gnats made it hard to enjoy eating by the pool, so I’d skip that and head to the beach. We’ll see how the rest of the stay goes, but so far it’s been underwhelming for a five-star resort.

The bar staff were friendly and proactive, and the bar is big enough for a crowd without feeling cramped. The restaurant has a cozy but upscale vibe, with couches to lounge on and tables and chairs too. Valet was complimentary. I didn’t try the food, but the drinks were good. There can be a lot happening, with another restaurant downstairs, a pool, and an area for private events. The guests seemed to include young women, older men, some couples, and attractive seasoned women. The dress code seemed to be come as you are, without enforcement. It’s a bar and restaurant with loud conversations, discreet hookups, and intoxicated foreplay.
