Hotel Sausalito

Robin made us feel like valued guests, with friendly help at the desk both Saturday and Sunday and spot-on restaurant advice. Our room, 212, had a lovely view of the water and ferries, and it was comfortable and quiet. We arrived early before our Muir Woods reservations and called the number on the door. A friendly gentleman came over quickly, let us into the lobby, and stored our bags until check-in. We parked in the public lot beside the hotel and felt good about leaving the car there. The ferry to San Francisco made for a fun day of wandering, and we were glad to return to the hotel’s quiet haven. Hotel Sausalito has lots of character. We’d stay again if we’re nearby.

I’ve been coming to Hotel Sausalito with my husband for over a decade, and I love it. The ocean and big downtown Sausalito fountain views are stunning. Robin, our receptionist, is always a joy and so welcoming. After another guest was a little rude as we left the building last night, Robin apologized more than once and even gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne. I also left my phone in the room at checkout without the key to get back in. We called the number on the door, and a guy arrived within a minute. Awesome service, as always. Thanks, Robin!

The location is very good, the beds were clean and comfortable, and I slept well. Water pressure was great. The interior feels worn, with some eccentric decorations, and it’s clearly an old hotel. The air con in our room didn’t work, but we didn’t mind.

There was loud construction across the street and on the hotel’s first floor, where they’re building a restaurant. Both jobs started at 7 AM, which was really annoying, even if it wasn’t the hotel’s fault. The rooms need a lot of work. In our first room the AC didn’t work. The front desk attendant responded very quickly, even though she’d gone to another hotel, and moved us when she couldn’t fix it. The AC in the second room seemed to work, but by morning it still hadn’t cooled down. The hallway was about 10 degrees cooler.
