Extended Stay America Suites Savannah Midtown

The second room was dirty too, with hair and grime on the floor, roaches under the counter, and a badly torn-up reclining chair. The first room had a filthy counter, an unswept floor, an unvacuumed rug, hair in the tub, and something that looked like kitty litter in the bed. They kindly moved us, which was a nice gesture, but it didn't solve the problem. A maintenance man said the online photos were at least 20 years old. This was especially upsetting since we were out of town with a loved one in the hospital. Late at night, we had to find another hotel farther from the hospital and pay more. Such an inconvenience.

The night clerk was funny, kind, and professional, and the young man at the desk the next morning was nice too. When he asked how our stay was, I told him we couldn't get out fast enough. We left by 7:30. The breakfast coffee wasn't ready until 7, and I didn't trust that the urn was cleaned regularly. The packaged blueberry muffin was so dry it couldn't even be squeezed into a mouthful; there were oatmeal packets too. In the room, we found a dead cockroach the next morning and a live one on the kitchen wall. There had also been one dying on its back when we arrived, plus dirt and hair in corners and along the baseboards, and a bobby pin by the bathroom. It was late and we had our senior dog, so we put our luggage up on the wire shelving in case anything crawled in. We didn't shower because there was no curtain. My husband asked the desk for a blow dryer for me, but they said they don't provide them. We were on a three-week Florida trip and had first stayed at another ESA Hotel in Jacksonville on November 30. That experience impressed me so much that I downloaded the app and gave it five stars. Our December 18 stay at ESA Savannah Midtown was completely different. I took photos and hope they get posted. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Monica, the manager, helped me out during my stay and gave me great directions for getting to downtown Savannah, which I really enjoyed. The staff treated me well and were very friendly. The property looked kind of old, but everything was clean and smelled excellent. I appreciated Monica's southern hospitality, which made me feel comfortable. I'll be back next year and hope it feels the same.

My kids feel safe here, and that means a lot to me. The staff are wonderful. This feels like a place to stay and belong, the best place ever when you need somewhere like that. I'd do anything for my kids.
