River Street Inn

The common areas and lobby are fancy and well designed, though finding some rooms was confusing at first because it took two elevators. The room’s exposed brick and tall windows look great, and the lobby coffee, manager’s reception, and discounted restaurant cards were nice extras. Staff were generous for my birthday, giving us free vouchers for two people and a bottle of champagne. They added top sheets promptly after we asked, since the beds didn’t have any at first. The beds were comfortable, and the tall mirror was a nice touch. Still, the room could use more practical details: there was just one chair despite having two beds, and the nightstand lights weren’t controlled separately. A bed skirt would make the beds look more polished, and hanging artwork could make the room feel more upscale. The internet wasn’t great, and I couldn’t connect the TV to my iPhone. I could hear people outside even from the fifth floor, though most nights were quiet enough to sleep. The room needed a deeper clean behind the bathroom door, along the baseboards, and in the bathtub. One dresser handle was loose, and some bricks in the decorative fireplace were broken. The bathroom toiletries were excellent quality, and lotion was provided. There was no bathroom fan, and the toilet would be better if it followed ADA standards. The coffee machine and refrigerator were useful, the iron and board were in good condition, and there were enough hangers for a three-day stay.

There’s a lot within walking distance, and the River Street Inn sits right on the river in the middle of everything. The elevator only works with a room key, which made it feel safe, and the building is well lit. My room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. It can get a little loud at night, though that’s not the hotel’s fault. I loved the history and the thoughtful touches, like seating areas on every floor and champagne on arrival. Be sure to take advantage of the manager’s reception each afternoon. There’s also a restaurant on site. My only complaint is that the room wasn’t dirty, but it didn’t feel especially clean either. We’d stay here again if we come back to Savannah.

The bed was very firm and left both of us a bit sore in the morning. That’s why we’re giving the room four stars instead of five, though we’d still happily stay again. Everything we wanted to see was just steps away, and the service was top-notch, friendly and attentive from arrival to checkout. The room mixed historic character with modern updates. We loved the architectural details and the stunning main stairwell, which felt like stepping into a piece of history. The atmosphere and location made the visit memorable.

The River Street Inn’s location and staff were fantastic. I’ve never felt so supported and cared for while traveling, and it’s raised my expectations for other hotels. Everyone was amazing, especially Will and Kayla, who did so much to make my stay positive, restful, and supportive. I can’t recommend the River Street Inn enough.
