Richland Inn

The bed was comfortable and smelled fresh, and it was an easy drive to downtown Johnstown. I’d stay again. I was in room 210 over the weekend. There’s construction around the buildings, though I didn’t hear any work going on while I was there. The outside has been nicely redone, but the room looked plain and not yet remodeled. I don’t know whether they plan to update the rooms too. The AC didn’t work, but luckily the room wasn’t stuffy. The gentleman who checked me in was welcoming and brought me a fan, then opened the hallway windows to let cooler air reach the room. There’s a hallway between the outside windows and the room window, which I found interesting.

The front desk gentleman was kind and helpful, and when we left he understood and apologized, giving us a $40 refund. We left because the room was so dirty. It was very dark, which didn't make it feel clean. I checked the sheets and blankets for bed bugs and found no signs, but there was a hair on the bed that looked like pubic hair. My husband thought it could have been a beard hair from whoever made the bed, so we tried to move on. In the jacuzzi, debris came out of the jets, and there was a lot of soap scum at the bottom. The AC was broken in the bedroom, so we went to the sitting room instead. Its furniture was mismatched, like things picked up at garage sales or on Facebook Marketplace, and didn’t seem clean. We used the bed sheets to sit on, then found a ring in them. My husband also spotted an earring in the couch. Looking around, we found French fries under the bed and a baby bottle beneath a chair. That was enough for us to leave.

There’s a lot of new construction and remodeling happening in several of the buildings, and the place seems to be on the way up. I was there to service an air conditioning chiller that was working intermittently. The owner was great, and the people were friendly.

The owner couldn’t have been nicer, and the place is looking great as they work through the remodeling. I stayed here for Thunder in the Valley, and I’ll definitely be back next year.
