Black Point Inn

The room was great, but the dining service really let us down. We waited a long time for a drink at the bar, then when our dinner reservation came up they tried to seat us back in the bar. We’d also asked about our golf reservation when checking in, and by 8 PM nobody had looked into it. The service needs consideration.

The bed was heavenly, and we loved the room and its fantastic view. My husband and I came to the BPI for our 20th anniversary, and wandering the hotel grounds was a treat. I especially enjoyed the Widows Walk and hearing its history. We sat out on the front lawn with drinks to watch the sunset, then had a delicious dinner in the restaurant. Going to the beach was a big plus too. Thanks for making us feel welcome and taking such good care of us.

We’ve dined at the Inn three times. The first visit was great, but the last two were horrible, and it almost felt like service was split between the very rich and everyone else. The tables were cramped, old, and dirty, and the chairs were the same. Food was passable, though I’ve had much better at less expensive restaurants. The service itself was great, which is why I gave two stars rather than one. We’d hoped for a romantic anniversary meal for our 44th, but it was far from that.

The location is really pretty, and the other staff were kind. But when I visited this summer, Will at the front desk was unpleasant, snippy, and difficult to deal with.
