The Inn felt more like a warm, welcoming home than a hotel, and the building's history and character came through in the details. The staff were some of the kindest people we've met on a trip. Between the on-site coffee shop and the yoga offerings, everything seemed thoughtfully arranged to help guests feel comfortable. We spent two nights at Stockade Inn on a weekend trip to New York, and my fiancé proposed while we were there. The owner, John Samutulski, came by to congratulate us, which made an already meaningful moment feel even more special. Our trip was amazing in large part because of how kind and genuine everyone at the Inn was. This is by far my favorite hotel or Airbnb stay, and I can't wait to return. I'll recommend it to everyone I know.

My room was bright, beautiful, and comfortable, and stayed warm even with it 3 degrees outside. I could soak in the huge tub while looking over at the historic stone church next door. It felt like a boutique hotel in NYC, and I look forward to another “staycation.” I've always loved this historic building and finally got to stay when Inner Bliss, the in-house Yoga and Wellness studio, held a three-day retreat. The staff were amazing. Deb was on top of everything, right down to putting extra chocolate on my pillow. Xoxo Jen

The beds were so comfortable, and after a long night celebrating, they kindly let us stay until early afternoon instead of making us leave so they could turn over the room. It was a beautiful stay in one of the oldest areas on the East Coast. My only complaint was the room temperature: it was very cold outside, but the room felt much too hot to sleep, and we couldn't control the heat. Otherwise, I couldn't recommend lodging in the Schenectady area more highly.

Graham’s coffee shop downstairs made an excellent cappuccino in a real cup, and had lots of tempting pastries, including vegan and gluten-free options. The owner also gave me some much-appreciated birthday perks. The yoga class I took in the second-floor studio was excellent, and the studio was bright and lovely, with big windows. My room had four large windows and was spacious, beautiful, and full of light. Both the room and attached bathroom were spotless, and the owner and staff were all super friendly. This gorgeous historic hotel is in the very walkable Stockade neighborhood, near restaurants, a movie theater, Proctor’s theater, and the Mohawk River for nice walks. I definitely recommend it.

The rooms are pretty and clean, with nice linens, and the service is flexible. They've accommodated late-night check-in and special requests, and even picked me up at the train station. Most of the rooms have been upgraded, and I'm excited to see the renovations to the ballrooms and common areas take shape. The on-site coffee shop opened last year. I always have a great experience at The Stockade Inn. The owners are carefully restoring this historic gem, and the staff care just as much. It's in a great walking neighborhood, close to Union College, Proctors, and more. I highly recommend it whenever I visit the Albany / Saratoga area.
