We stayed in a cabin for the weekend with another family, and there was enough room for both families and the kids. The cabins sit right on the Lake Superior shore, with private, peaceful access to the water. From the patio facing the lake, we could hear the waves. Mount lutsen is only a 15 minute drive away. It was a beautiful stay, and I'd definitely go again.

Temperance Landing's cabins feel like a home away from home for a winter getaway up north near Lake Superior. When our adult kids join us, it's a special time, and there's enough space for everyone to get a little room to themselves too.

This was our second stay at Temperance Landing, and the service was really bad. The sauna was closed, and we arrived with kids to a cold, dirty house. We paid 2600$ and got nothing for it. It's sad the owners don't seem to want to make a clean, comfortable place for guests. Just open Pinterest and look up what an aesthetic cabin looks like. Even the amazing Post Hotel is chipper then this cabin! Not recommended. We won't be coming back.

The view right on the lake was gorgeous, the complex pool was great, and the towels were fluffy. There were plenty of biting flies and mosquitoes, but good nature activities for the kids too. The problems with the cabin were serious, though. The gas fireplace didn't work. When the maintenance guy tried to fix it, sparks flew out, so we left it off for the rest of the week. It was July and warming up, anyway. Then we came back one afternoon to smoke everywhere because the fireplace had switched itself on. It has a two-way view into the upstairs bedroom, so someone had put a suitcase in front of it for privacy. The suitcase started melting. It's amazing the place didn't catch fire. The central fire and smoke system wasn't working, so be aware. It was almost alight when we got back from a morning hike. There were other issues too: the upstairs bathroom sink leaked badly, nearly all the downstairs bathroom bulbs were out, and the last one went on our departure day, leaving the room dark. A broken fire detector was hanging by a thread downstairs. By then we were tired of calling the office to complain. Management responded fairly quickly, and the maintenance guys spent almost all of our second day there. I hadn't realized each unit belongs to a separate investor, so they're not run like a hotel. The maintenance guys said the units all have different fixtures, fridges, fans, and fireplaces, which means they need piles of different parts. Sounds like a logistical nightmare. Maybe guests over the years hadn't reported the broken things. Reporting them isn't just complaining, though, it helps the next people and management did seem responsive.

The cabin fit six adults and six kids perfectly, with a beautiful view of the water behind it. The back door lock didn't work, but they came quickly to fix the dishwasher and brought wood every day for the warm fireplace.
