Best Western Plus Inn Scotts Valley

We’ve just wrapped up our second stay. The front desk staff have always been courteous, and the rooms have been comfortable and clean each time. Breakfast is nice too. Parking can feel a little cramped, and there wasn’t a Bible in the room.

The young woman at the front desk was so kind and thorough. The place is quaint, clean, and comfortable, with the details in the room and the well-kept grounds clearly looked after. It had what we needed without being over the top. The pool looked great, but it’s on the small side and filled up quickly with families, so we couldn’t use it.

Dabney made us feel welcome and valued. She was friendly, quick, and so helpful at the front desk. Thanks, Dabney.

The room itself looked fine, though it had a faint musty smell. The lobby smelled like burning sulfur when I arrived, and the front desk clerk said it was from some “chemicals” being used. Later, in the shower, I saw mold all over the ceiling. It looked as if it had been painted over, so I figured they knew it was there. Mold is a health hazard, and this has made me lose trust in the Plus brand. They did reverse the room charges, which I appreciate, but I can’t recommend them now. I raised my rating from one star to three after stopping by a few hours after checkout and seeing staff bring in sanitizing supplies. That showed they were trying to address the issue. They probably need new drywall, though, since it seems to be a recurring problem. I had booked because Best Western Plus is usually excellent, but this stay changed how I feel about it.
