The morning buffet was nice, the usual sort of spread at a Hyatt resort. Gainey Village is within walking distance if you’d rather eat somewhere outside the hotel. We went in late January and were upgraded to the top floor, which was nice. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay, though the room was upward of $525 per night plus the resort fee.

I was there for work and had trouble resting because my room overlooked a loud courtyard. The pillows may have been the most uncomfortable, and all my coworkers seemed to agree, which made the stay more restless. Still, the location is gorgeous, the amenities are top notch, service was great all around, and we really enjoyed the food and drinks. It’s a great resort, but might not be my first choice if I go back that way.

The resort grounds are beautiful and very well kept, and the staff were friendly and accommodating throughout. We enjoyed our stay from February 22-25 at the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale, using a Guest of Honor award with Explorist status. It felt somewhat secluded from other parts of Scottsdale, though Kierland and Scottsdale Quarter are a short drive away. We were there during the week, when two conferences were happening back to back and the hotel was full. Even so, the pools and evening restaurants didn’t feel overly crowded. Several on-site restaurants were closed Sunday and Monday, though, which limited dining options. We didn’t get an upgrade despite GOH status, which was a little disappointing but understandable with occupancy so high. There was confusion about the breakfast benefit: the check-in desk said $44, the host at mesa central said $30, and our server said $44. I checked again with the front desk during the stay and was told $44. The club lounge was decent but not exceptional. Happy hour is 5-7 PM, with light appetizers like sandwiches, salad, fruit, and wings. Breakfast was basic, mostly bagels and packaged cereal, and the 11 AM snack was mainly chips, candy, and trail mix. Ice cream was available 8-9 PM. Beer and wine were discounted at $9-$10, but the selection and quality felt average for the price. It’s a nice property with good service, but go in with realistic expectations for the lounge and restaurant availability during conference-heavy weeks.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay, and tonight is our third and last night. The complex is spacious, modern, and enjoyable, with everything top-notched. But two things in the advertising are misleading. Hyatt doesn’t own or control Gainey Ranch Golf Club, and despite the ads making it look easy for Hyatt to help guests book, that isn’t true. Also, Gainey Village Health Club and Spa is a separate club. You have to sign up there and provide your email address, and we’re certain we’ll get “endless” promotional emails. Often unsubscribing can’t stop a subscription. Grand Hyatt should protect its reputation and avoid misleading ads. Thank you. Bill

The food was excellent, especially the breakfast sandwich, one of the best I’ve had. Restaurant and pool service was great, there were tons of open chairs and umbrellas, and the water slide was fun. We stayed four nights with a friend and could easily Uber around the area. The rooms are loud, as other reviews say, so bring ear plugs. Self-parking at $32 a night seems extreme, and room service has a very limited menu plus a $5 delivery fee. Order DoorDash instead. Guests can use some classes at the gym across the street, so ask the concierge. There’s no hotel shuttle. Overall, I’d definitely stay again.
