Hotel Adeline, Scottsdale, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The pool area was a vibe, the food was excellent, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The speakeasy was a fun surprise, too. Everyone on staff was great, but Melinda especially stood out. She was kind, knew the area well, and was always glad to share ideas for places to eat and things to see. It’s clear they care about guests here. We’ll definitely come back.

I left behind an old blow dryer while making room in my suitcase for purchases. The day after checkout, the hotel contacted me and offered to ship it back. That was such a thoughtful touch, and I’ll definitely return. The front desk staff were friendly from check-in through my request to change rooms because of noisy neighbors. The pool is gorgeous, with a fun bar, rentable daybeds and cabanas. Rooms are clean, have quality amenities, and the beds are very comfortable. I had breakfast at the restaurant once and enjoyed both the food and service.

The pool and lounge spaces were lovely, and the staff were nice. My room was clean and the bed was super comfortable. Just be aware there’s no elevator, so you’ll have to carry your bags up to the second floor, and the hallways can feel uncomfortably dark at night.

I stayed for 29 days after surgery, and everyone at the hotel knew I’d just had surgery. Still, on our last day, rooms manager JOSE accused me of ruining nine duvets that supposedly had to be incinerated. I met with JOSE about it and put my response in writing on two cards, which I handed to front desk manager KATHY. The general manager never came out to speak with me despite repeated requests. I don’t even know if there is one. Carlo showed me a photo on his phone of what he said were the sheets, but wouldn’t let me touch the phone. It could have been a picture of any sheet in any room. What I saw looked like stripes from chocolate, because one night we had fallen asleep eating chocolate. That certainly wasn’t nine nights’ worth, and nothing that should have been incinerated, as JOSE put it. I was accused of damaging hotel property after staying there for 29 days. This was the worst Marriott property I’ve ever visited, all because of Carlo, the inept rooms manager. Everyone else at the hotel was absolutely lovely, but this one person ruined the whole trip for me. He was completely unprofessional, showed no understanding of hospitality, and wouldn’t let us stay an extra day. I’d already stayed at the Westin Kierland for 44 nights during my surgery because I knew this hotel couldn’t handle me afterward, so we had spent a lot with Marriott while in Scottsdale. Now I’m canceling my Marriott Bonvoy credit card immediately. Marriott should have a brief, final conversation with this unpleasant rooms manager, who doesn’t belong in hospitality or at any Marriott property. I’ll make sure my Yelp and personal reviews reflect what happened.
