Kasa Scottsdale North Phoenix

I walked in, saw the condition, and left ten minutes later for the Marriott Residence Inn. The hallways were filthy and trashy, with stained carpets, damaged walls, and a sewer-like smell. The unit reeked of cigarettes despite being marked non-smoking, and also had stained carpets and damaged walls. One access key fob was missing. My colleague’s unit had no cookware, though I didn’t stay long enough to check mine. Before check-in they demanded an invasive amount of personal information, more than I’ve given for government security clearances. I demanded a full refund for my five-night stay and was offered only one day. The whole thing felt like a scam to grab money under the Damage Deposit. There are several extended-stay places within walking distance, including the Residence Inn. Go anywhere else.

It took hundreds of steps to reach my room through a maze, though the room itself was okay and clean. The bigger issue was Kasa adding a Loss Damage Waiver, or LDW, charge equal to 10% of my stay. It appeared two days after I’d already paid in full for two nights, including a cleaning fee, and I left the room spotless. Kasa said it depended on whether I checked a box during their lengthy check-in, which also required both sides of my driver’s license and a mountain of answers. When I disputed the fee, Kasa management told me they were right, I was wrong, and I was out of luck. I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world and never paid a hotel LDW. I won’t stay at Kasa again and don’t recommend its properties as hotel alternatives in Scottsdale or elsewhere.

Kasa was a very pleasant surprise for our first stay. The room was spacious, open, and clean, with the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom basics all provided, from silverware and cookware to soap, shampoo, and laundry detergent. The TV had all the channels and apps we wanted, and the pool and workout facility were great. Kasa also thoughtfully had a pack-and-play ready before we arrived. We’ll stay again and recommend it to friends and family.

The building was a bit confusing on my first visit, but Kasa’s directions were easy to follow. I’d heard it could be hard to navigate in the past, so it seems they’ve listened and are improving things. There’s a nice outdoor hot tub, pool tables, and different areas to hang out or host friends. I’d definitely stay here again on another Arizona trip.
