Orange Tree Resort

The room was clean, and we enjoyed the resort and its golf course views. A few things were a problem. The porch at the back was so dirty we had to ask for it to be cleaned before we could sit outside. There was also a cockroach in the shower. Parking is far from the room, so the hotel offers a "complementary" shuttle. We hadn't planned for that and had no cash to tip. We even asked if the driver accepted Venmo or electronic tips, but he didn't. We gave him the only $3 we had, and he scoffed and complained. As three women traveling, this left us concerned about whether the driver would be honest, and we refused to use the shuttle to advertise that we were women traveling without a man present.

The resort was gorgeous and spacious, with plenty of spots to relax, and the gym had all the equipment we needed. The location was close enough to walk to everywhere on our list. Front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond with our requests. What an experience at the Orange Tree during our Scottsdale getaway! I'll choose Orange Tree again when I'm back in the area. Thanks for making the trip so memorable and amazing.

The golf course view is very nice, the room layout works well, and the room itself is nice. We stayed through a relative's timeshare, so my perspective may not be typical. It's clearly a golf villa, so if you don't like golf, a lot of its appeal may be lost. It also feels designed for middle-aged couples. For instance, there's a bedroom, but if kids are sleeping on the pullout couch, which has a nice mattress, there's little privacy. The two doors are light wood shutters you can see through up close, and they block no sound. They're private enough to change clothes, but not for much else. The bathroom is long and very nice, with a tub beside the counter, two sinks, a vanity with a stool, and a nice shower. That setup also feels meant for a couple. It's quiet at 9 pm, but by 5:30 am it sounds like 8:30 on the I-10. Terrible. Free WiFi is very fast, and I had no trouble doing Zoom meetings. The TVs are nice, but it doesn't feel quite like a hotel since you can't watch Netflix or Prime unless you bring your own Roku or similar device. It has digital cable, which is better than the slow blue guide channel at many other villas. There's also a DVD player and a list of DVDs you can borrow. The golf cart staff bring what you ask for, and they had a box fan, which was a lifesaver since we can't sleep without one. They'll fill the fridge and bring a crockpot, skillet, or outdoor BBQ tools. There's a microwave and blender, but no stove or oven. No washer or dryer in the room either, though there's a free laundry place on site, and the pool is nice. If you don't golf, I'd consider staying only if you get a great deal. Otherwise, it's a nice room beside a nonstop fairway of amateur golf cart drivers, with a 20-year-old TV setup.

The pool was nice, and the rooms were clean. There wasn't a midweek spot clean, but whenever we needed something, staff brought it over in about 15 minutes. They'd also give us a golf cart ride anywhere on the property. It's in the heart of Scotsdale, about 20 minutes from Phoenix and two hours from Tucson.
