Scottsdale Parkview Hotel

Those photos are the part that really bothers me. They look many years old and don’t show the pictures guests are posting with their reviews, which feels extremely deceptive. If I’d seen recent guest photos, there’s no chance I would’ve booked. They’re charging $230+/night, while I’ve stayed in motels under $100/might that were much, MUCH nicer. The stay itself could’ve been worse, and the beds seemed clean enough and were okay. Thankfully, our room didn’t smell. We were there March 6-7. The pool was cloudy, the hot tub jets didn’t work, and probably only 8 pool loungers/chairs weren’t broken. The rooms are tiny and all open straight to the outside, like an outlet mall, so you hear EVERYTHING. There’s no elevator if you need one. We didn’t see a bar or restaurant, even though they’re in the photos. I know it was cockroach season, but a dead, smooshed roach had been on the wall for quite a while, which made me wonder how well they clean. I’d listen to the poor reviews. If they let guest photos show, I guarantee they’d get a quarter of the business they’re getting, which is probably why they don’t. You’ve been warned.

For what you pay, this place just isn’t worth it. Late checkout costs extra, bottled water costs extra, and pretty much everything seems to come with another charge. The front desk staff didn’t seem interested in helping, just taking my card. The first room had long hair under the top sheet and stains on the wall beside the bed, so I switched rooms because its sink wouldn’t drain. The second room was better, but its door wouldn’t close all the way, leaving a gap where you could see people walking past. Check the sheets and mattress cover here. The cabinets were chipped and one door was missing from the cupboard below. Walking on the carpet without shoes made my socks dirty. It wasn’t filthy, but this was basically another Motel 6 type of place, stretching the word “resort” as far as it can go.

The staff were welcoming and really nice every time I went in. The hotel was quiet, and I think they did a good job keeping families with kids on one side of the building and couples or people traveling alone on the other. My room seemed to be partway through renovations, with some older parts and some newer ones. The curtain header looked like it had been ripped off, and the furniture was old and scratched. The bed, though, was very clean and comfortable.

Ana at the front desk made the stay for me. She was professional, super helpful, and made everything easy. If you’re checking in, look for her. She really goes above and beyond for guests. I had a fantastic stay, and the hotel itself is great too.
