Kemah Edgewater Hotel, SureStay Collection by Best Western

We’ve stayed here plenty of times and usually have a really pleasant visit, so this was an unusual letdown. The room smelled sour, like damp carpet, and my husband’s pillowcase smelled sweaty. In the morning, the shower diverter wouldn’t lift properly. I had to force it, and it only came halfway up, so water kept running from the faucet as well as the showerhead. The front desk clerk wasn’t helpful or friendly this time. We’ll still stay here when we’re in the area.

The worn furniture and stiff, old towels, some with holes, made the room feel tired. There was a damp smell in both the room and corridor, and the bed wasn’t comfortable. Breakfast wasn’t much better. The orange juice tasted so odd, almost spoiled, that everyone who tried it threw theirs away.

We came to visit Nasa, just minutes away, and booked two rooms for Spring break. Check-in was easy, the beds were comfy, and the smart TVs were a nice touch. Breakfast was really good, with plenty of choices. No complaints from us, and I hope we can come back soon. Thanks for hosting my family.

“Pet friendly” comes with a $100 deposit and a $25 per night fee, and you still can’t leave your pet in the room. Need to run to the car? The pet has to come. Going out to eat or see the area on vacation? Bring the animal, and hope it’s up for it and allowed wherever you go. Absolutely insane.
