My husband and I stayed for one night in mid-May, before peak season, but the room made us both uncomfortable. The front metal door was dented, and there was a faint urine smell as soon as we walked in. It badly needed a deep clean; it looked like there were stains or some kind of substance on everything. There was a brown smear on the bathroom doorframe, and I don’t want to know what it was. The bathroom door itself was cracked and breaking open along the edge. We checked out a few hours later and found another hotel. The man at the front desk was nice, and maybe that particular room had been neglected or wasn’t fully prepared for peak season.

The first night there was no heat, even though it was only 40 outside, and the shower stayed cold. I mentioned it at the desk the next morning and was laughed at. I was told to run the water for a while, but apparently half an hour wasn’t long enough. The second night was about 41 outside. I followed their instructions and ran the water for an hour, still no hot water, and still no heat. I froze, then moved to the other bed. Three hours later I woke up itching and found bed bug bites all over my chest and back. I couldn’t even face going to the desk in the morning. The young white woman at the front desk was rude and acted like my problems were my fault, though they were clearly the hotel’s. She didn’t care. I work next door and our drivers stay here often. $250 for two nights is already a bit expensive, but that wasn’t the main issue. Stay away from this bed bug infested place!

I found dirty nip bottles under the bed and dirt all over the Seabrook inn room. They wouldn’t refund me or give me another room after I found the trash. The place doesn’t clean rooms, and the people running it seemed shady to me. Don’t stay here. This business should be reported, and I’d boycott it.

The guys at check-in were respectful and sweet, and answered all my questions graciously. There’s a gas station nearby and the hotel is close to the highway, handy if you need fuel on a road trip. But we had no heat, so the cold made it hard to enjoy our stay. We couldn’t call the front desk from our room because the phone was labeled for room 152 even though we were in 108, and it had no dial tone. We had to use a cellphone. The desk said the heat would take an hour to reach 80, which seems outrageous. Even after I turned it past 80, it never blew hot air, and I don’t think they realize it stays off for long stretches. We had no bath towels either, only hand towels. Wouldn’t stay again. It might do for a night’s sleep on a road trip, but I wouldn’t recommend a longer stay.

The location works well for getting to Newburyport or Hampton Beach, and having a gas station, convenience store, and restaurant across the street was handy. Prices are affordable, the beds looked clean, we didn’t see bugs, and breakfast was free, though it was just cold cereal and toast. Inside the room, though, the musty air with a hint of old smoke hit you right away. The carpet and bath mat were stained, as was the ironing board, which looked like it had been used as a table. The iron didn’t work, and the air conditioner barely did before it stopped altogether. It looked scummy overall, but I stayed because I hadn’t planned the trip.
