Holiday Inn Express Seaford-Route 13

I'd read the earlier reviews and had some doubts, but I'm glad I stayed. The hotel was just what I expected for the price. I arrived late and still got a friendly, hospitable welcome at the front desk. My room was tidy and clean, and the free breakfast was decent, clean, and included, even if it wasn't fancy. As I left, two staff members wished me a nice day. I got what I paid for and expected.

The second-shift desk clerk was a pleasure to deal with. I think she'd worked there for 13 years. Aside from her, I wouldn't return in the property's current condition. It's dated and wasn't very clean. Soda bottles were left behind the chair, and about four inches of visible dust sat on each side of the AC unit. When I raised it, the front desk agent said they had been rushing through rooms because they were so busy. Unacceptable. We stayed five nights, but the room was serviced only once, on day four, and only after I requested it. As a Holiday Inn Express, I expected full service automatically on day three. Breakfast was also very lackluster, with little variety, no waffle maker, and basic options.

Watching the lake wake up while eating the free hot breakfast was a lovely way to start the day. It's a beautiful lake, full of ducks, hawks, and other water birds. The hotel itself was nice and the staff friendly, though our bathroom needed a deep clean. We enjoyed our stay.

It was a nice getaway from city life. The room was okay, but had a mildew smell, so I was glad I brought Lysol. The bed felt too soft and wobbly. Breakfast was good, although none of the ice machines worked.
