Kathryn Riverfront Inn, an Ascend Collection Hotel

It was our first stay, and we’ll absolutely return again and again. The staff, free breakfast, 24/7 pool and fitness, and location were fantastic. Our ground-floor double queen room, which we booked because of our pups, had a small balcony that was a lovely feature. The room quality is why I’m taking off a star. There were no hooks for bath towels, though it looked like one had been removed, and the bathroom wasn’t very clean, with makeup splatter left on the counter. The beds were uncomfortable, and the microwave looked like it was from the 80s. Still, everything else made the stay delightful. On checkout morning our battery died, and we left over an hour late. The staff kindly gave us extra time and suggested car services to call. We’ll definitely stay again, thank you!

The pool and hot tub were awesome, and the hotel felt quiet and welcoming. I usually don’t hang out in a hotel lobby, but I did here! Our room was large and cozy, and the staff were so sweet, with service above and beyond. The location was amazing too, with the Main Street right outside the side door. Highly recommend!

The free chowder they put out in the evenings is a nice little perk, and breakfast is actually good, with some nice options. The rooms are consistently clean and comfortable, and it’s relatively quiet. I’ve stayed at four different hotels in the area on visits to Seaside, and I think this is one of the better ones.

The front desk staff were friendly and quick to respond, and the rooms were clean. But opening the door brought a strong, stinky smell. I guess it may be mold, as others mentioned in reviews. That smell made the stay disappointing compared with other hotels in Seaside. Breakfast could use more choices, like fresh-cut fruit or pancakes. I know it’s complimentary, but many hotels offer those. Room service could be better too. The small body wash bottle, maybe 1oz, was barely enough for one person. When I asked, the staff gave another bottle for two people. The facial tissue box was empty and hadn’t been replaced. At a similar price, there are other good hotels and inns in the area, so this may not be the best value.
