The State Hotel

We arrived early and they got us into our seventh floor room right away, which was really convenient. The rooftop terrace was a highlight, with an amazing view and a bar open from 4 to 8. The updated rooms and tasteful decor carry through the whole hotel, and the attention to detail shows up at the restaurant too. Ben Paris is incredible, so don't skip it. The $15 daily credit from the resort charge is a good excuse to go, and I’ll write a review for them as well. The staff, location, everything was amazing. You can't beat this spot without giving anything up. I'd absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.

The lobby and attached restaurant are cute, and I enjoyed the funds they offered toward a restaurant meal or drink. The hotel's location is beyond great, and I liked the security. My room was clean, the bed comfortable, and everything was pretty standard but did the job. I wasn't happy that there was no iron or hair diffuser. I asked at the front desk but wasn't offered either. I also didn't care for the room artwork, especially the two faces. I'd rather see a landscape.

The rooftop has a lovely view of the sunset, and the location is unbeatable. Everyone working there was helpful. I used the confusing credit system for a discount at Ben Paris, which was really good for both breakfast and dinner. I still don't understand why you're charged for discounts and freebies. It doesn't make sense. The room felt like a typical mid range hotel room in a central US location. The furniture looked very old, the room was dark, and the mattresses really need replacing. Cleanliness was alright overall, and the housekeepers were kind and helpful.

We paid a premium for the hotel's only specific room and requested an early check-in because I was traveling with my son and they don't have double bedrooms. The request was denied. The person at reception was very friendly, but we then waited in the lobby for four hours while I watched several people walk in and get rooms. I understand the hotel was busy and rooms needed turning, but it was frustrating to see rooms prioritized for people who weren't waiting there. At the very least, they could have comped breakfast at the restaurant. There are lots of hotel options, and for a brand that aims to be service oriented, this was a major failure. I'm sure the hotel is fine, but customer loyalty comes from getting the little things right.
