Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sedalia by IHG

The pool and hot tub were a disappointment. We stayed two nights hoping to relax, but kids filled the small hot tub the whole time. The room echoes and gets extremely loud when it's crowded with kids and adults, so we never got the quiet soak we wanted. We also found two cockroaches in our room, on separate days. That's disgusting, and daily room checks and cleaning matter, holidays included. On the morning after our request for fresh towels and a made bed, housekeeping came back and woke us with doors slamming and noise in the hallway. We stayed Nov 26-28 over Thanksgiving, and nobody had told us there would be no housekeeping staff on site. There was no sign or disclaimer, yet we paid full price. We were told about the holiday staffing only when we asked for basic service. Guests shouldn't have to take out their trash, clean their own room, or go to the front desk for basic items. If the hotel charges full price, it should provide the service. With no notice, no basic housekeeping, and cockroaches in the room, I wouldn't recommend this property.

I spent about three weeks here for work. The staff were great across the board, and there's a steakhouse right next door, with plenty of barbecue nearby. I didn't have a bad meal anywhere. The location worked for work, though Missouri is as isolated as you'd expect, and they like it that way. My only gripe was the dryer, which took two cycles to get clothes fully dry.

The pool was warm, the hot tub worked well, and I managed to use the workout room twice. There's a small laundry room too. Breakfast had far more choices than I expected, including omelettes, fruit, and Greek yogurt. I've lost 40lbs in 3 months and have been disappointed by food options on our trip, so that was a real plus. Everything was well kept, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. This is one of the best hotels I've stayed at. Thanks for the hospitality, we'll definitely come back.

I found a bug in the bed, though I can't say if it was a bedbug. They moved me to another room, but there was a nasty stain on that floor. Two nights cost me $400, which feels way overpriced. I honestly think I deserve part of that back.
