Holiday Inn Express Sedona by IHG

The breakfast was way better than I expected. The pancakes and scrambled eggs were really good, and there’s a free coffee bar open around the clock. Across from the hotel are plenty of restaurants, and the view outside is breathtaking. Our room was clean and spacious, and the bathroom had all the basics from Dove, plus body lotion. Everyone on staff was nice and helpful. Really good service all around, I’d definitely come back ❤️

The location in the Sedona-Oak Creek area was nice, but I cancelled our second night over the $15-per-night “security parking fee.” We were staying two nights, and that charge was the principle of it for me. The motel is in a safe part of town and has an open lot like most motels, with no garage, fence, or covered parking. They had us put a piece of copy paper with writing on it on the dashboard, supposedly for security. That hardly made me feel protected from a car break-in. The fee is listed on the website if you scroll through everything, but when you book a motel shown with an open lot, you don't expect to pay for parking on top of a $170 room. Paying another $15 itself isn't the problem, it's the way the extra charge comes as a surprise. The second night apparently meant another little piece of paper, too. This feels deceptive. If I were IHG, I'd pull their license. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay, and I would recommend it if they dropped that silly fee.

The staff made a good impression on us. They were easy to talk with and shared useful local suggestions, including their own preferences, which I always appreciate. The building is older and has some wear, but we still had a comfortable, safe night's sleep. Everything felt clean and safe, and I'd come back and recommend this spot to people traveling through Sedona.

The bed was really comfortable, and the Dove bath products were a nice surprise. Everyone we met on staff was friendly, especially Susie in the breakfast area. There’s also a lobby water fountain with a bottle-filling station, which came in handy. You can hear a neighbor's shower or door slam early in the morning, but it wasn't worse than at other hotels. Parking costs $15 a day, yet for us the stay was still a good value compared with other places nearby. The hotel is in Oak Creek, about 10-15 minutes south of Sedona, which we liked. We'd stay again.
