Skagit Motel

I was there for two weeks, and the staff made a big difference. One housekeeper in particular was amazing, and management stayed patient and kind even though our move-out ran several hours late and things were stressful. The rooms are dated but spacious, with laundry on site and full kitchens; there are studio-style units too. It was the cheapest weekly or monthly option around, however you work out the numbers, and kids are allowed. Getting around is hard without much transportation. The area can feel a little sketchy, but people were nice and mostly kept to themselves if you weren't up to no good. I don't judge anyway and can get along with pretty much anyone, lol. I'd happily come back if I'm in the area again.

Bugs came out of the sink. The owner said it was because the front door had been left open, but if it was open, that happened before we got there. They charged us for a larger room when all they did was put a cot in ours and call it another double bed. And don't let them see if you're carrying cash, because the prices seem to mysteriously go up.

The coffee in the listing was a lie, they don't offer it. They also moved me out of a large, comfortable, quiet room with a tub, table and chair, air conditioning, and dresser into a cramped room where the neighbors are loud all night. I have to be up for work at 7 a.m. In this room, the bathroom window is missing, the toilet doesn't work, and the shower flips between scalding and cold. There's no place to sit except the bed, no fan or AC, and the door doesn't shut all the way. They said my previous room was for temporary guests, but a guy at the other end of the hall has already been here over a month, which is how long I'll be staying.

The room was clean, with a comfortable bed and pillows and no lingering smell, and the manager checked me in efficiently and was friendly. The inside is much nicer than the building looks from outside. One concern is the window AC: it's set into a hole made for a much bigger unit, leaving a clear view of the parking lot around it, and I'm sure people outside could see into the room too. In the morning, the cleaning lady/Manager was rude. She knocked while we were asleep and accused us twice of smoking marijuana, saying she could smell it coming from our AC. We weren't smoking anything. Aside from that, it's decent for the price, and I'd stay again if I needed to.
