Americas Best Value Inn Seguin

The staff were pleasant, and the room, front office, and parking lot all looked clean. We came to drop my son off at college and picked Americas best value inn because it was close to the school and reasonably priced. I was unsure about staying since I'd only used Best western hotels before, but we had a good visit. The room smelled a bit dank at first, though running the AC cleared it up. We stayed two nights. While we were out, housekeeping cleaned the room but took the shower curtain and didn't put it back. The little issues aside, we enjoyed our stay. The website also doesn't mention that breakfast and WiFi are provided.

I paid $100 for a room where we found mouse droppings spread across one bed, under the pillows and sheets. It was late, so we ended up sharing the other bed for our quick overnight visit to New Braunfels. By morning, there were even more droppings on the bed we'd used. When I showed photos and reported it to the front desk, the woman brushed it off, mentioned pest control had sprayed for mice the week before, offered nothing, and quickly ended the conversation. I was extremely disappointed. I also emailed the corporate office, whose generic reply didn't impress me.

After the toilet overflowed, we cleaned up as best we could, then asked for towels so we could shower. The manager said no, telling us we shouldn't have used our towels on the mess. Earlier, when I asked the office for a plunger and more towels, they gave me only two rags, nowhere near enough. The office guy brought more rags but didn't come into the room or offer to help. The manager blamed us for the overflow and offered no help or refund, saying it wasn't his mess to clean. With customer service like that, we packed up the kids at midnight and drove two and a half hours home.

The beds were comfortable, and the stay wasn't bad. I would feel better if I could tell where the room had been cleaned, though. The floor outside the bathroom needed sweeping and mopping, and the bathtub drain wasn't clean.
