Van Riper's Resort

The room was small, but it was clean and cozy. It did get cold, with temperatures below freezing while we were there, so having both a heater and a fan was appreciated. The staff were helpful and friendly from my first call to check on the reservation through the final call with departure details. I only wish we’d had time to visit the gift shop. We booked for Valentine’s Day, and the town was quiet and cozy. There’s also a nice diner just up the street, with friendly people and tasty food. We really enjoyed our stay, and I hope to come back soon.

The rooms are tiny and smell like mothballs and patchouli. There’s barely space to cook, and one of the two burners doesn’t even work. The shower is so cramped that if you’re a big person, you might as well jump in the water outside. No one seems to be in the office when you need help. The cleaning ladies do come by every day, though, so that’s a plus.

My sister and I had to find somewhere at the last minute, and Van Rippers Resort found us their best room. The front desk guy was incredibly friendly and made us feel looked after. We sat on the porch with wine and snacks, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. We weren’t there to fish, even though it’s a fisherman’s resort, but everyone was kind to us. We could see seals playing near the dock for hours, and hear them splashing all night. It was such an amazing experience. Sekiu is a cute little town, and this place really made our trip. Highly recommend!

The room was just what I expected, and the check-in was great, with such nice people. It was so quiet at night that I had one of the best sleeps ever. I loved the people and the views, especially the unusual pastel pink and blue sunset. I was lucky enough to spot bald eagles in the morning too.
