Historic Route 66 Motel

The manager was easygoing and friendly, and check-in was quick. The price was reasonable, and I really liked the place. The shower only got lukewarm because of the temperature stop in the handle, although the sink water got much hotter. It's an older renovated building, so the windows are thin and the train could wake light sleepers. The room had classic Route 66 decorations, and shops and restaurants are an easy walk away.

The queen beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and the owners were nice. There were lots of outlets, just none in the bathroom, though we managed fine. There's a coffee pot but no breakfast, and a restaurant is right across the parking lot. The cute Rt 66 decor adds character. It's handy to the interstate from Rt 66. We heard plenty of trains but they didn't disturb us.

I slept right through the trains, even though people said they ran all night. The bed was rock hard, which I liked, and I slept like a rock on it. The motel didn't have plastic bedding for people like me, so Mammaw made me wear my rubber pants to bed in case of accidents. The place is sort of dated, but in a good way. It reminded me of Mammaw's house because she has old furniture and things too, and that made me feel at home. Mama said the price was right. We had to leave for the Grand Canyon at 6, so there wasn't time for breakfast at the Roadkill Restaurant next door, which opens at 8. That's okay, I had bogars in my nose for breakfast, then we stopped at a mini mart and I got a Hostess fruit pie and chocolate milk. I'm used to getting up early for school, so 6 was okay. I'm the smartest in my class, and even though we're all special, I'm the specialest. We drove to the Grand Canyon with Mammaw and Mama, and I'd stay at the Route 66 motel any time.

The room was clean and the location was handy, with a pretty good restaurant next door. The bed felt a bit hard to us. Our main complaint was the shower pressure, which was so weak you could spit with more force. It may have just been our room, but we'd still recommend staying here.
