My husband and I stayed at the Best Way Inn last night. I always check around when I get to a hotel, and when I opened a drawer I found two containers of moldy food. There was also something left in the microwave, as in the other picture, and mold around the bathtub. They're nice people, but the whole place needs a major upgrade.

The rooms were nice and clean, and I liked that they got rid of the carpet. They wouldn't give me a late checkout or work with me when my pickup ride was running behind. Apart from that, it wasn't a bad place.

The two-bed room cost $85 a night, plus a $30 deposit. After three days in the same room, staff wouldn't let me switch. Employees also came in without knocking after being told not to disturb us, and there's no latch to bolt the door. They gave us a hard time about my work schedule when two employees from my company came by to make final project adjustments. Then, after three or four nights, they wouldn't let us stay another night and told us at 10 a.m. there were no open rooms, which was a lie. Really weak.

It was clean, the shower had hot water, and we could park our bikes right outside the doors. The wildlife might strike you as a little odd, and the place is dated. Bathroom tiles need work, and the lights never really go all the way off. Still, if you're after somewhere relatively inexpensive, you could give it a try.

For the area, Best Way Inn is a good room at a good price. The outside can give the wrong impression, but the rooms have been updated, so I'd give it a shot for at least one night. They're pet friendly, and the fee is just $10 a night. Housekeeping comes by around 10 to 10:30, which I like because they don't disturb you in the early morning if you want to sleep in. It's in Seneca, about four minutes from Clemson, with lots of fast food and sit-down options about that close. The staff are beyond friendly and welcoming, make sure you have what you need, and sort out problems quickly. We had a clogged toilet and they dealt with it. The rooms are clean, quiet, and safe, and the rate is lower than at the Executive Inn across the street. The front desk at the Executive Inn was really rude when I asked about rates and information. If you have a "better than" attitude, you may prefer to spend $130 at the Hampton. Otherwise, go see for yourself.
