We locked the car and had no trouble, though the motel area felt a little sketchy. We picked this place while passing through because it was cheap, even less than our budget, and now I see why. The rooms look like they haven’t had any care in years; the Google photos are seven years old. The heater/AC had buttons missing, so I had to press them at random and hope I got the setting I wanted. The room smelled strongly of smoke and weed, bedding included. Even my sons’ pajamas still smelled like it the next day.

The room was freezing all night because the heater never worked, even after I told them. I piled the spare bed’s sheets over myself, on top of the bedding already there, and still couldn’t get warm. The bed felt old and lumpy, and I caught a cold from the chill, which wrecked the stay. I’d give Motel 6 in Odenton, MD near Fort Meade 2 out of 5. I’d seen online complaints on TripAdvisor, Yelp, and Booking.com about upkeep, including broken fixtures, sticky floors, clogged sinks, and rooms not being clean or maintained. Some people describe staff as rude or unhelpful. My own interaction was okay, but no one fixed the heater. There are positive reports too, saying a room may be clean and basic, check-in friendly, and free WiFi works fine. Still, that cold room and uncomfortable bed made it not worth it. Hope they sort the problems out.

Two weeks here have been a real pleasure. I’m impressed by the new management team and how much they want to improve the Odenton Motel 6. No place is perfect, though some people expect it to be. If your review is more than six months old, you should come back and update it. Keep up the good work, team! There’s no food served here, but fast food places are close, and Door dash, uber, and grub hub are available. Getting to route 295, route 32, and route 97 is easy. Leave the kids with grandma and enjoy a quiet, restful night with the bugle call from nearby Ft.George Meade in the background.

After 15 days here, my husband went to the office because our key had stopped working. A woman started shouting that we were meant to have one bed, which is wrong, we always get two. She also said we owed $9 and they needed to clean the room, though nobody had knocked during our stay. We’d never seen her before. The next day, someone banged loudly on the door, and when I answered, she yelled that she was coming in to clean. I told her again that I’d worked all night and wasn’t awake or dressed. I asked for the owner, but she said she was the manager, and that she was the only person I could speak with. My husband and I have stayed at motel 6 for years without many problems. The maids usually bring me towels and sheets, but I’ve always cleaned my own room, and we’ve had to take the laundry to the laundromat ourselves. We’re in Maryland for work and work nights. This place could get more business with a manager who understands customer service and how to treat people. I won’t stay here again. It’s not the only motel that allows pets. If anyone knows how to make the property owner aware of this, I’d really appreciate it.

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean, and there was hot water. But the TV just said there was no signal, there was no fridge or microwave in the room, and the ice maker didn’t work. The place says no smoking, yet the comforter had burn holes.
