Clarion Inn Willow River

We had a King suite with a separate living room, a two-person jetted tub, and a fireplace. It’s one of the nicest Choice hotels we’ve stayed at. Breakfast was hot, tasty, and had plenty of choices. The coffee was great, and hot apple cider was available in the lobby around the clock alongside it. The Mexican restaurant across the street is a good dinner option.

We checked in at 8:15 at night and were told there was only one room, so we took it. It was about 90 degrees inside. We cooled it by opening the balcony door, but through the night we woke every 10 to 15 minutes to open it again. At 5 a.m. I called the desk and was asked, “What would you like me to do now?” We had to be up at 7 for the reason we’d come to town, so we decided to leave at 5:45 and asked to be charged only half the rate. Then I was told I’d have to talk to a manager. The website listed $99 for the night, but we were charged $153. The customer service was the worst, and they kept saying we should have called sooner, even though we’d been told ours was the last room available.

Kiki at the front desk was very friendly when I checked in and again at checkout. The lobby has a warm, welcoming feel, and our room was quite clean and a decent size. For the price per night, the hotel was great and exceeded our expectations. My only suggestion would be to provide larger or permanent bath toiletries. I’d stay here again.

We paid $412 for three nights in a double queen room and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the staff are very friendly. The hall carpet is a bit worn and the baggage carts are older, but the place itself looks lovely. Our balcony looked over the river. Since it was November and cold, the view felt a little dreary rather than pretty, but it was still nice to have. Breakfast was good and satisfying, though a couple of the biscuits for biscuits and gravy were rock hard while the rest were soft. The dining area gets crowded and there isn’t much seating. The one staff member who didn’t seem friendly was a cook who watched everyone getting food without smiling. We recommend staying here.
