Landmark Inn

Sitting on the balcony with my morning coffee was a highlight. The room was clean, the front desk staff were incredible, and I'd happily stay here again next time I'm in the area.

We paid extra for a room with a jacuzzi, but the tub didn't work. There were no chairs at the table, no microwave or coffee maker, no working fridge, no blow dryer, and the fireplace was out too. The pillows were so thin and hard we wished we'd brought our own. Then housekeeping barged in hours before checkout without knocking or warning while we were still asleep. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was crazy.

The location was so convenient that the noise from being near the main strip didn't bother me, though anyone looking for quiet should keep that in mind. The rooms are pretty outdated, but I can see how that helps keep the price reasonable. For the cost, it's definitely worth it.

The only reasons I'm giving this place two stars are the convenient location and that it was quiet enough. We don't plan to return, even at the usual much cheaper rate. We had booked several rooms as a group about a month ahead, before we knew a car event would be happening that weekend. After a bad one-night stay in Pigeon Forge, we had hoped this would go better. The group member who booked was called on check-in day to confirm rooms that were already paid for because the hotel was planning to resell them. After fighting the event traffic, that person checked in with all the group rooms and told us our room number, 302, and that the front desk would have a key waiting. We had split up and couldn't get a key then. Later, we went to the desk with the booking name and room number, but staff said they couldn't help. There was no key waiting, and only the person who made the booking could get another one or call the hotel. Traffic and cell service were still terrible, and they wouldn't let us wait in the lobby or use a bathroom. After about 15 minutes, the person who booked reached the desk and we finally got a key. Apparently only one key can work at a time. Room 302 was a jacuzzi room, but its key stopped working after the first entry. Three of the four of us went to get our things and couldn't get back in. The desk still showed the key assigned to the right room, so they said they couldn't do anything. Luckily, the person still inside finished showering and let us in. The key never worked again. The front desk said maintenance would be told about the lock, but they didn't know when it would be fixed. Someone even asked, "You guys don't plan on going back out tonight anyway, right?" Once we looked around, there were more problems: not enough towels for four adults, used q-tips on the floor, and something brown, maybe poop, on the toilet lid. The mattresses had zip covers, but the sheets looked like they had just been put back after the previous guest, and one comforter had a yellow stain. The jacuzzi was visibly dirty, with large mystery-food crumbs beside it. A towel by the tub had several long black hairs on and around it, and none of us have hair like that. The fridge outlet had a broken ground prong stuck in it. The toilet screamed when flushed about half the time. I have a video, but review videos don't include sound. The shower head was like a high-pressure, unadjustable hose about five feet up, unpleasant for our taller friends, and there was no clock. At checkout the next morning, it looked like a couple of children were cleaning the rooms. Without booking ahead at the usual rate, this room would have cost $372 for one night. I don't know how many of these issues were caused by overbooking for the car event, but the stay was bad enough that we won't be back.
