Smokies Motel

We stayed for nearly a month and a half. The woman running the place now talked down about us to other people, saying she wanted us gone and that we complained too much. She seemed to show favoritism. The maintenance guy had a bad attitude, and when the microwave broke, it was never replaced during the rest of our stay. They ban people for just about anything, but the drug problems there get no attention.

The staff were friendly, and that was the only good part of our stay. The beds were dirty, the sheets had yellow urine stains, and the blankets were filthy. For what we paid, I expected at least Wi-Fi, clean beds, and no bugs. We won’t be back.

Becky and Brittany made the place feel chaotic. Becky would take pictures of rooms when curtains were open, and also photograph people sitting at the shared picnic table. Brittany would fish for information and then tell other people’s business. They both have keys to the rooms, and management encourages this, according to my experience. The pool shown online is just an empty cement area filled with weeds and lawn chairs. The advertised cookouts and happy group atmosphere don’t exist. There are two people causing trouble all the time. The rooms are overrun with roaches, and the exterminator’s spray might as well be sugar water. Most rooms don’t have microwaves, and the ones that do may not work. The owner, Michael, is wealthy but won’t replace them. Guests still pay full price for a nasty room, and families who are struggling are taken advantage of. The website pictures are deceptive. This place is a dump, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. If you do stay, check every nook and cranny before handing over your money.

Fantastic staff and hospitality. We spent a whole week here and honestly would've liked to stay longer. The atmosphere was good, it was really clean, and the staff were attentive. There wasn't really any criminal activity. Five stars.
