The rooftop bar was closed, the elevator smelled strongly of marijuana, and the downstairs door stayed unlocked the whole time, with no code needed to get in. The beds were lumpy, the furniture layout made the main sitting area hard to enjoy, and the TVs required us to sign in with our own streaming subscriptions. The showers were the worst I’ve experienced, even compared with bunkhouse showers. I’m petite and my husband is muscular and 10 inches taller, but neither of us could shower comfortably. The heads were much too high, the walls too narrow, and the water flow shot the wrong way like a fire hose. The high ceilings also made the place cold and drafty because the heating couldn’t keep up. I was excited by the hotel’s history, the area, and its look, but it was a huge letdown. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

I was only in town for one night on a work trip, but I was impressed by how nice the place was. The restaurant downstairs was terrific, and the apartment-style room was clean and felt more like a small home than a hotel room. Brandy at the front desk was really nice, too. I’ll be back in town in a few months and will definitely book here again.

The hotel worked out as a lovely home base for our week. It’s near restaurants, the main attractions, Dollywood, Splash Country, and Pigeon Forge, so it was easy for my grandchildren to enjoy the parks and other local sights. The grounds were lovely, and we also enjoyed the restaurant and the coffee shop’s distinctive feel. My daughter, her family, and I stayed in a beautifully designed, open-concept two-bedroom, two-bath efficiency unit. The converted historic building and private condo setup made the trip feel special. I’m not well, and I wanted to make a lasting memory with my daughter and grandchildren. This boutique hotel delivered on every point. The value for what we paid was exceptional, and I could hardly believe the accommodations for the price. I hope I’ll be able to stay here again.

We had a very courteous, polite woman at the front desk on check-in day. Parking can be tight, especially with a truck, but there are plenty of spaces across the side street at night. Restaurant customers seemed to use the hotel spots until around 9 or 10 p.m. If you’re getting back at 10 or later, there’s usually a space out front. Our two-bedroom, two-bath unit had a full kitchen, and the building was nicely renovated. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the location made it easy to get around PF and G’burg without being in the middle of the mayhem. Being able to walk to several restaurants was a big plus. A couple of things could be better: the shower’s rain head had low flow and weak pressure, which was a pain for anyone with long hair. Also, our queen bed was in a bedroom large enough for a king. Those were my only two misses in an otherwise nicely decorated place.

Some plates were dirty when we arrived, though I don’t know if there were others we didn’t use. They expect guests to do the cleaners’ work, and the paper said extra charges of $50-$350 could apply if you did anything beyond eating or sleeping. My family paid through booking.com, yet they tried to put more than we’d paid on the paperwork. It feels money hungry and isn’t worth your time.
