Box Canyon Cabins

The hosts were so friendly, and there's a nearby place with wonderful sweet and savory crepes. We stayed in the Bears Den Cabin for one night and loved being close to Seward while still feeling tucked into the woods. The pond, flowers, and landscaping were lovely, and my grandson had a great time sending pine cones from the bridge down the stream. The fire pit looked inviting, though we turned in early and didn't get to use it. Even with the other cabins occupied, it stayed quiet and private. We appreciated the two separate bedrooms, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, coffee and filters, roomy bathroom, and how clean everything was. The shower floor was a little slippery, so a rubber mat or stick on decals would help. Sadly, the play area had been lost over winter. Our hosts explained that, and while my grandson would have enjoyed it, we'd happily return, hopefully with more family.

The grounds would be a lovely setting for several families to gather. We spent one night in the Bears Den with our daughter's family, grilled hamburgers, then made s'mores around the campfire. The cabin was nicely arranged for a stay of several days, and we had a great time at Box Canyon Cabins.

We saw a moose right outside our cabin, which was a thrill. Our family spent four nights at Box Canyon Cabins in Bear’s Den and Eagle’s Nest. Both were very clean and had everything we needed. The outdoor space was wonderful, and we sat by the fire pit each evening. Our hosts welcomed us warmly, knew a lot about things to do in Seward, and responded quickly. We loved our stay.

We spotted a moose and her calf twice during our five nights there. The Moose and Fisherman cabins both suited what we needed. One thing to know is that Moose is downstairs in the largest cabin, so noise from guests above can be an issue. The people upstairs were loud a couple of nights, and had a dog. Laundry is available for $2.50 to wash and $3.00 to dry, but bring detergent. You can get quarters at the Iditarod gift center. There’s WiFi through Starlink, and it’s fast when the satellite connection is available.
