Colonial Inn

I paid $111 for the room and another $20 for my service dog, who is NOT an ESA. The man I spoke to either didn't understand or didn't care about the rules, and I wasn't going to explain it a fourth time. The microwave was broken and there was no TV remote. Staff were neither helpful nor cordial. They just promised that if I rented another night, that room would have a remote and working microwave. Great. I planned to stay, but saved $60 by moving to the Super 8 down the road, where my room was twice the size and the appliances worked. Its fan also didn't smell like years of dust. I cleaned this room's fan filter myself because the burning-dust smell was unbearable. The vents have two lift-up filter lips that can be cleaned and put back in under a minute. A missing remote should be easy to notice too, since it belongs under the TV or on the nightstand at turnover. I hope management gets things in order or lowers the rates. The Wyndham was nicer in every way and cost me just $10 less than half of what I paid at Colonial. What a shame.

Food options are plentiful nearby, with many within three miles or less, and I felt safe in the quiet, clean place. Parking was right in front of the single-story rooms. I rang the bell at check-in and a young man came right away with a smile. He noticed I was happy to chat, and his conversation made me feel comfortable staying there. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had the best water pressure I've ever experienced. I loved it and would come back if I'm ever in the area.

For an older place, my room was really clean and the service was excellent. It's handy for the highway, though the driveway is very steep. Parking a truck and trailer could be tough when it's busy or if you're not used to maneuvering them. Just don't expect the Ritz.

My key card stopped working when I got back from breakfast. It was only 9 a.m., and checkout wasn't until 11.
