La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Sheboygan

The breakfast and the rest of my first stay were good, but I won't come back after this visit. I felt watched, woke up at 6 a.m., and couldn't get out fast enough. The room was 232, and from the bathroom you could see into the neighboring room. I swear they were recording me. There was what looked like a camera through the bathroom vent above the toilet, though I don't know what was going on. Get any room but this one and use caution. I'd stayed two days. On the last night, the woman working made me feel like I didn't belong and told me there were drug problems in the hotel because she lives there. I'm local, but shouldn't be treated like a problem at check-in. I'm saddened because the first stay was great, but this time the woman at check-in and the room changed that.

We've stayed here before and it was never this bad. When we tried to leave, no one was at the desk, and our key had stopped working after breakfast, well before checkout. Earlier, the room was so hot we had to switch off the heat and open a window. The room wasn't made up even though the front desk said it was ready. We couldn't explain the problem to the housekeeper because she didn't speak English. After we were gone for several hours, we returned to find the door open with our things inside. At check-in, the woman seemed annoyed that we'd interrupted her reading.

When I called the day before, unsure whether I'd make it while driving from St. Louis, the staff were so friendly and said a room would almost certainly be available. At check-in they were fun and helpful, answering my questions about dinner, the weather, and where to go. I requested a second-floor room for some peace and quiet, and it was completely quiet.

The bed was comfortable, with a nice selection of pillows, and the shower had great, strong pressure. I liked the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion dispensers. The room was clean too. The woman at the front desk was friendly and upbeat both on the phone and in person. We'll be back.
