Wingate by Wyndham Sheboygan

I stayed here alone, and at checkout a man in plain clothes was outside my room. He called out to me aggressively several times, came up behind me, and chased me as I ran down the stairs to the lobby. Because he was lingering there at checkout time, I worried there might be a camera in the room. I sent feedback through the Wyndham website and called the hotel. The woman at the desk put me on hold for a minute, then said she had checked the cameras and the man was a housekeeper, and that his being outside my room then was a coincidence. Later, the hotel emailed me saying they didn’t know who he was and had opened a police report. When I called again, manager Ragi repeatedly interrupted me, said “he’s a really good guy,” told me I was overreacting, and insisted I wasn’t being chased. I told her about the email, and she said it was written by AI. It clearly wasn’t, as it was in very poor English. She wouldn’t refund me or confirm whether they had checked the room for cameras. I contacted Wyndham executives. They said they couldn’t do anything, but explicitly confirmed that the email had come directly from this hotel. Finally, I called the local police department. They told me no report had been filed and said they 100% believed me, describing this as the worst and most unsafe hotel in town and strongly emphasizing that no single woman should EVER stay there. Based on the place’s history, they said they wouldn’t be surprised if there were cameras in the room. Unfortunately, since I hadn’t contacted them right away, they said they couldn’t investigate, and that the hotel had a history of not cooperating with them. No one should stay here, especially with kids.

We enjoyed our four days here, and my whole family had a good time. The hotel was clean, pleasant, and well organized. Our room was clean and easy to get to, and the staff were always friendly and ready to help with whatever we needed. The breakfast was fresh, hot, and amazing. Everything was just right.

Mold and grime in the room were pretty gross, and water leaked through the glass wall onto the floor. The toilet seat wasn’t bolted on properly, and the curtains had no shades behind them, so the room wouldn’t get fully dark. Smoke smell was noticeable throughout the hotel. Breakfast was disappointing, and the eating area had a door leading to a mini-mart. It’s cheap, and there’s a reason. I’d be wary of reviews with only a few entries that are marked as likely fake. I wouldn’t bother staying.

The location was convenient for nearby attractions while still feeling peaceful. Staff were warm and professional, and check-in went smoothly. My room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast was tasty with a nice range of choices. I had a wonderful stay and would happily return. I recommend it!👌👌👌👌
