Shelter Island House

They never answered our calls or replied to our email. About eight hours later, we got a text from a random number, then no response after that either. We were dealing with a medical emergency and called to ask to reschedule our booking. They charged us for the room on top of the deposit we’d already paid. It was my birthday, and we only wanted to move the booking. We have all the medical documents to show what happened. This is a horrible way to treat customers going through a difficult time. They took our money, ignored our attempts to contact them, and we still haven’t heard back by call, text, or email.

The location was ideal, and we’re already looking forward to coming back and using the bikes next time. Our deluxe king room was wonderful, and the Inn was meticulously clean, making it a great base for a Shelter Island stay. We enjoyed the plush robes, relaxing pool, and complimentary coffee. The staff were pleasant and attentive, and Chez Marie’s bar was a cozy place for a pre-dinner cocktail.

Beth was a warm, welcoming, and attentive host. The pool is stunning and easily the house’s biggest feature, though it isn’t heated until late May. Shelter Island is such a peaceful escape, serene and charming, with a lovely feel for unwinding. We had one small issue with the bed: something tiny in the sheets, maybe lint or particles, made it a bit difficult to sleep. Still, we had a fantastic stay and would gladly return.

The Osprey suite was the most luxurious room I’ve seen anywhere on Shelter Island. Suzanne and the whole staff made my wife’s birthday stay memorable. It was a magnificent experience.
