Days Inn by Wyndham Shenandoah

We left a day early because of the dirt, the uncomfortable atmosphere, and the manager's rude behavior. This was one of our worst hotel stays, and I wouldn't recommend Days Inn by Wyndham Shenandoah to anyone. The manager came into our room the next morning while we were still asleep, without knocking, and told us we had to check out immediately. We explained we'd just checked in and had three more days booked. She said “oh sorry” and left. Later we found a housekeeper in the hallway and asked if she could clean. She was new, polite, and did her best. While she was cleaning, the manager came in again, pointed at us, snapped her fingers, and kept telling us to get out. We said our belongings were inside and we were only standing near the door. She insisted guests couldn't be in the room during cleaning, and said they have “integrity” and that's “how it works here.” Given the room's condition when we arrived, that felt ironic. The room was sticky and very dirty. The floors and sofa chair were sticky, the sheets stained, and the towels smelled bad. There were only two towels for three people, and no toiletries or cups. We asked the front desk to send housekeeping with toiletries and cups, waited quite a while, and no one came. The place felt poorly maintained and unprofessional.

I settled for this place because nowhere else had availability at the time, but never again. The room had a dead roach in the bathroom, no towels, and a hot fridge. The whole place is a dump. The woman at the front desk who calls herself the “general manager” first had a problem renting the room to my son, then changed her mind several hours later. After that, she took issue with me because I had a puppy. I got rid of the puppy in front of her, but she kept harassing me and saying she'd come check every hour. I told her I understood and would see her in an hour. It seemed like she wanted an argument even though I knew I was in the wrong. Then she said, “since I was going to be like that I could go.” I don't know what “be like that” meant, but I said, “no problem.” She still hasn't refunded the two remaining days or the deposit. She was prejudiced, unprofessional, unfriendly, and had no people skills.

The receptionist was great at her job, though she looked visibly frustrated, and I understand why. Management won't repair the card readers or the other broken things, then leaves whoever is on duty to take the blame. We spent an hour trying to get into a room because they refused to fix anything. They need to disinfect for bugs, or tear the place down and rebuild it. Corporate has been irresponsible.

Roaches, bed bugs, a broken AC, stained sheets, dirty carpets, and misleading breakfast advertising. The whole property is falling apart because of terrible management. Don't book here, no matter how much more another place costs. Our room was 84 degrees. The AC blew cool air for about 30 seconds, then only hot air. We reported it and waited a long time before someone from the front desk came to check. He said to talk to the manager. Half an hour later he came back and said it had already been reported and checked, and the technician said restarting it should fix the error code. We tried while he was there, but it still didn't work. He refused to change our room or do anything else, saying nothing could be done. I left the door open to get some cool air. When I came back, they demanded we close it because mist could cause mold, even though the room already had mold. It was a terrible stay. I'll never return, and I won't book somewhere in a rush without reading the reviews first.
