La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham York

The staff were quick to help: someone directed me to the heated water cooler when the water I found was lukewarm, and housekeeping cleared our clogged shower within ten minutes. The rooms were very clean, too. Breakfast had a good range of choices and a waffle maker. Parking was easy, and we could walk to lots of restaurants and stores. We were lucky to have picked this place.

I stayed here for an appointment and it was better than I expected. The service was okay, breakfast was good, and the price was very good. The bed and bathroom were clean. There was a little staining on the floor, but it didn’t bother us. It was a good stay.

The rooms were gorgeous and clean, with updated TVs and smart features that worked well. The TV did keep interrupting what I was watching to update some random app. The shower pressure was piercing. They’d done a lot to soundproof the rooms, but there was a strange sound, almost like being underwater, and I’m not sure if it came from an appliance. It really kept me from sleeping well. The road in and out was pure ice, even though the last snowfall had been two weeks earlier.

My girlfriend offered to pay for a room so I could shower and sleep, since I’m homeless. When we arrived at 12:30 at night after an extremely long day, they required a $50 incidental fee. We didn’t have that extra money, and the staff member made us cancel the reservation, knowing we had nowhere else to go. What would a $50 fee do if I damaged the room anyway? Don’t stay here or support this hotel.
