The cleanliness really surprised me, even the ceiling vents were spotless, and the beds were comfortable. There are three separate sitting areas: one has a fireplace, and another has a TV for socializing or playing cards and games. The pool was nice, and the small exercise room with a treadmill and exercise bike was efficient. Laundry has one washer and one dryer, but there’s also a laundromat across the street. Breakfast was included and excellent, with scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, assorted breads and pastries, cereal, juice, coffee, and tea. The VanBuren Hotel made for a very enjoyable stay!

I was there for two nights after bringing some Amish folks to a nearby clinic. The room was very clean, the shower had hot water and good pressure, and breakfast was decent for eggs, sausage gravy, and biscuits. There was also a waffle maker, cereal, and yogurt in a small fridge. Breakfast wasn’t the greatest overall. I left an energy drink in the room fridge and came back about an hour later, before the cleaning lady had thrown it out. The policy is to toss anything left behind, but she went to her cart and got the drink for me. I needed it for the drive straight back to Lancaster PA that day.

The room was amazing, and the pool was very nice. It’s quiet, laid out well, has free wifi and plenty of light. We did struggle to find well placed outlets for charging our phones, but made do. Front counter service was a little lacking. Even so, this was honestly the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at.

We thought the hotel was nice and clean, and the staff were nice too. But we found a bed bug on the bed in the morning. I don’t know if there were more, so we left a note in the room. We didn’t want to bring any home or leave them for the next group. Check the beds carefully. Apart from that one bug, the place seemed clean.

On our second day, the entry door to our room stopped working, so a hotel associate moved us to another room. That room was fine apart from the smoke alarm beeping all night, and we barely slept. We’d planned to stay one more day, but by then we were more than ready to head home.
