The low price was what I needed, and that part was true, but I left a day early even though my reservation was non-refundable. I couldn’t take it any longer, and I wouldn’t stay here again. It seems like the people running the place are trying, but the property is in disrepair. Holes in the walls, broken toilet seats, and Sharpie writing on worn-out washcloths made it feel more trashy than merely cheap. Noise travels between rooms, and the overpowering air fresheners and scented detergent gave me a headache while covering up smells. Outside, I saw sex workers in the street and drug deals on the sidewalk in broad daylight.

The first thing I noticed was that the gate opened with an ordinary turn of the knob, no passcode or retinal scan needed. After parking in the gated yard, I was greeted by the manager, owner, or whoever was in charge, who said he’d take care of me. I told him I had booked the next four nights online. He said that was fine, but asked for a $100 refundable deposit as long as I didn’t smoke, bring pets, or cause damage. After the paperwork, my key wouldn’t work. The owner was bringing in rock salt for possible ice the next morning, so I told him about it and he reprogrammed the key. Once inside, the room was cold, with no heat on. The heater initially did nothing, and resetting the button on the outlet got it running for a couple of minutes before it shut off. The owner said he knew how to fix it, came up, and it was working after that, at least so far. The bed felt like a rock, and there were only two pillows. The TV was tiny, maybe 24 or 32 inches, mounted at the far left side of the room. I could probably see it better from the bathroom with the door open. The free continental breakfast is served 7-9am, a short window that might be easy to miss if you’re not here for work or a budget vacation. The accommodations were horrible, the service wasn’t very friendly, and this was a lesson in what value-priced rooms can be like.

The front desk guy was especially kind and helpful, which made the stay. My room was spotless and decorated so nicely that it felt pricier than it was. I had the king bed, and it was very soft and plush. If you like a firmer mattress, you may want a different bed. I’d absolutely recommend the place.

The staff were friendly, breakfast was decent, and housekeeping left us fresh towels every night. The room was clean, too.
