Snowy River Inn

The price we were quoted on the phone went up mysteriously after my husband drove 45 miles to Show Low. There weren’t any other guests, and I can see why. I was so mad that we hadn’t just stayed in the car. The only positive, according to my husband, was that they have smoking rooms. Opening the door was like getting hit with 67 years of cigarette smoke. It smelled like the 60s, and I was appalled. “Unimpressed” doesn’t begin to cover it. The location may be good, but somebody needs to bring Fabuloso, bleach, mold killer, spackle, and supplies for roof repair. The windows, floors, and walls were filthy; the baseboards looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. Please look at my photos, because I’m not exaggerating. I checked the bed for bed bugs with my phone and was scared. Please look at those photos too. 🙄🤢🙄

The bed was comfortable, I slept well, and the room stayed nice and cold all night thanks to an A/C unit that worked great. The fridge worked too, though I can’t say whether the microwave or coffee maker did. Hot shower water was good, but there was no bathroom curtain, and the sink had only a small bar of soap. The location’s convenient, near downtown and lots of places to eat, and check-in at 2pm was simple. We were given another room after finding hair and some kind of dirt on the pillows and bed in the first one. The second was better, though its floor was dirty throughout and we had to kill a cockroach as soon as we walked in. At checkout time, 11am, the owner knocked around 8:30 to ask if we were leaving. Can’t say I appreciated that. It wasn’t a terrible stay, but we probably won’t return.

If you’re short on money and just need to sleep somewhere, I’ve stayed in worse places. It’s cheap and centrally located, with restaurants and activities within walking distance. The room was okay, though it wasn’t very clean. The microwave and shower were gross, there was hair in the sheets, and the fridge needed cleaning. The bed was horrible. A plumbing problem meant the shower valve would only turn on cold water. For a low-budget hotel, it could be worse, lol.

The bed was at least somewhat comfortable, and I got a $15 refund after the shower didn’t work. The manager said at checkout I could use another room to shower, but I had appointments and no time for that. The sink water was lukewarm at best, so I had to wash with a washcloth. I’d requested nonsmoking but got a smoking room. The floors were dirty, and the flooring was coming up. There was an outdated fridge, no coffee pot, and the bathroom lighting was poor. The room had no phone to call the desk, and the night light was in pieces in the nightstand drawer. Guess I’d have had to put it back together if I wanted a reading light, lol.
