The bed was super comfortable, and I tried to stay positive at first. But the room had carpet stains and furniture and trim that were very run down. I even told the manager the next morning that the room was nice, hoping to make the stay more pleasant. My husband’s shower turned cold after five minutes. Mine did the same that afternoon, and I had to rinse in cold water. The person on duty said they’d call a plumber, and we were told we could leave and get a refund for unused nights. I didn’t know then whether I could find somewhere reasonable to stay, so we accepted an offer to move rooms. That night we returned at 9:45 and our room code didn’t work. Nobody was on duty overnight, so I spent 1/2 hour in the hallway making calls to get the code changed. The next morning my husband got a decent shower, but when I tried later I waited and waited for the water to warm. I called the woman at the desk to feel it. She put her hand in the tepid water and said it was hot. I gave up. She later sent a somewhat snarky email saying she’d stayed in our first room and had a very long hot shower, the plumber had been able to get hot water, and perhaps we didn’t know how to use the water valve. I also plugged my iPad and iPhone into the charging outlets on the lamp overnight. In the morning neither would charge. At the Apple Store on Boylston, I was told charging stations built into lamps or other appliances have a history of ruining device batteries. I had to replace both my iPad and iPhone. When I called the general manager, he was incredibly rude and took no responsibility for any of these problems. I was excited to stay at this inn, but the experience was deeply disappointing. Don’t stay at the inn at st. Botolph. Boston has plenty of other options.

The room size was really comfortable, and it’s a great hotel in a fantastic location. I’d definitely stay again when visiting my kid at Northeastern.

We liked being able to enter the building and our room with a code, without tracking a key or waiting in a check-in line. The ground-floor common area had coffee machines, cold filtered water, plus a fridge stocked with complementary bottled water and juices. Breakfast was sparse, but the big, thick fresh English muffins were great. We brought them upstairs to toast in the kitchenette’s toaster oven and eat in our suite. We spent 5 nights in a two bedroom executive suite on the fourth floor during a brutally hot week in June. The central A/C kept us cool. The suite was spacious, bright, and had a pleasant view of the pretty brownstones on the quaint street. Having desks in each bedroom and a large table in the sitting area worked well for meals. The one complaint was the cleaning when we arrived. There were crumbs on the couch and in the ottoman crevices, and the couch was a little damp and smelled like the last residents had spilled cake. The gentleman at the desk that evening kindly offered to vacuum the ottoman since housekeeping had left for the day, and brought extra sheets and blankets to drape over the couch to cover the crumbs and smell. Once we’d settled in, we asked for the room to be cleaned and were told it would cost $50 out of pocket, so we declined. Without that, the stay would have been perfect.

Jordan and the rest of the staff made us feel at home, always welcoming, kind, and helpful. The views were excellent, and our spacious, comfortable room was beautifully appointed, with luxury toiletries. This was our second stay at The Inn at St. Botolph, and it exceeded expectations again. It’s tucked away in Back Bay, but close to transport links and easy for exploring Boston. A quiet, cozy boutique hotel in the heart of the city. We can’t wait to return!

Breakfast was continental, with bagels, cereal, and the like, but it was appreciated. The location made it easy to walk just about anywhere downtown. It’s a quaint little inn in Back Bay, with comfortable rooms and very friendly, accommodating people at the front desk. I’d gladly come back.
