The front desk staff are really nice, but this hotel was dirty, outdated, and so noisy that we couldn’t sleep. Behind it there’s an active railroad with at least two trains passing late at night or early in the morning. There’s also a busy road with cars and trucks racing by. The windows don’t do enough to block the noise. The parking lot signs say the hotel isn’t responsible for break-ins or theft, and thankfully nothing happened to our vehicle, but that wasn’t comforting. Our group booked eight rooms, and two had to be changed. One fridge had rotten food, one bathroom had ants, and we found dirty socks and a used condom left by previous occupants. Curtains in two rooms looked like they had blood stains; the thinner curtains were extremely dusty. Every room smelled moldy. The showers were disgusting. In some, broken holders meant the shampoo, conditioner, and soap bottles had been left on the sink, where anyone could open the caps and tamper with them, which felt unsanitary. Don’t count on getting clean towels between nights, either. The front desk couldn’t provide a fresh set. The key cards were so cheaply made that they reset near a phone or other cards, so you can’t keep one in a wallet, purse, or pocket with your phone.
We were in town for the LA State wrestling tournament with several other families. Almost everyone had similar cleanliness problems, and a few families changed rooms. Holiday Inn should be embarrassed by this location. We’ll never stay here again. Our room had dead bugs stuck all over the walls and ceiling, dirty vents, and socks left on the floor by whoever stayed before us. Worst of all, there was something that looked like vomit behind the bed walls and on the bathroom walls. The shower pressure was so low I had to turn around about 15 times just to get wet. One elevator was broken and the other was slow.
The place was dingy, old, and smelly, and looked nothing like the pictures. The carpet was old and peeling, and the wallpaper was coming away too. Our room had a musty odor that clung to our clothes the next day. We’d booked a king, but it was given away before we arrived. Only double rooms were left, and it was too late at night to argue. The staff were great, and breakfast was good except for the way it was handled. They told us it ended at 9:30, but when we arrived at 9, the menu wasn’t available and the buffet was the only option. I have stomach issues, so that was unfortunate. I won’t be coming back.
I assumed the hotel would be nice since it was the host location for the event I attended, with rooms blocked there. The dirty lobby should have been a warning. Floors, ceilings, and baseboards were dirty, moldy, and peeling. Bugs bit my friend and me in the room, so I refused to stay. They moved me to a somewhat renovated room on the fifth floor, but it was dirty too. The comforter, curtains, and chair were stained. I asked for a refund and was told they would only discount the room by 25%. This was the worst Holiday Inn I’ve ever booked. The staff and manager know about the hotel’s condition. It needs to be demolished. I’d rate it zero stars if I could. Don’t stay here.
The location is great, right by downtown, and I had an amazing time with zero problems. The gym and pool were great amenities, and breakfast was amazing too. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I’d seen bad reviews before booking, but my stay was fantastic. I’d definitely book again.
