TownePlace Suites by Marriott Richmond

On our move across the US, we stopped here and were grateful they let our bulldog stay in the room with us. Our room was spacious and very clean, and being near an exit door made middle of the night potty breaks easy. Everyone at this TownePlace suites Richmond location was terrific. We got a warm welcome at check-in, friendly good mornings at breakfast, and a quick checkout with a kind goodbye. Miss Ginger put out a great breakfast with everything you could need to get going for our second travel day. I'll definitely come back next time I'm passing through.

Clean, nice furniture and a great breakfast, plus I liked the personalized TV greeting. The room itself was pleasant, though the shower door wouldn't shut and left water everywhere. The kitchen cabinet bases were pretty battered, and an aluminum kick plate would've helped. I'd stay again.

The second room had more than one issue when we arrived: its latch was faulty and the door had been propped open, which was concerning, and the toilet was clogged. I called for help, but maintenance had gone home at 4 PM. They brought me a plunger, so I had to deal with it myself. There were other signs of poor upkeep and original construction too, including loose fixtures, doors sticking in their frames, and faucet handles hitting the wall because of bad installation. We had to change rooms after finding two large live bees or hornets in the first one. There was a short delay because I had booked through a third party and was initially told they couldn't move me, but the front desk eventually found us another room, which we appreciated. Between the insects and the problems in the new room, the small frustrations added up and the stay fell well short of what we'd expected from the other reviews. It wasn't a complete disaster, but it was disappointing.

The breakfast was a real highlight, much better than the usual hotel spread, with fresh, well-stocked choices for everyone in our group, from hot food to healthier items. The staff were friendly and quick to help, always smiling, and seemed to care about guest comfort. It's a newer property, and it feels that way. Our room was spotless and roomy, with a full kitchen, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was bright, large, and clean. Getting to I-75 was easy, and restaurants and stores were nearby. Whether you're there for one night or a longer visit, it's comfortable and convenient. I'd happily stay again and recommend TownePlace Suites Richmond.
