Days Inn by Wyndham Shrewsbury Worcester

The coffee was good, though the breakfast area is small. The room and sheets were clean, and the firm mattress was surprisingly comfortable. The shower had strong pressure and plenty of hot water, but the clean towels were small. I was able to book at the last minute, and the stay was honestly not bad for a no frills hotel. It’s an old, dated place, though, and the room carpets could use a good shampoo or maybe should just be replaced.

I travel for work and knew I wouldn’t get proper rest here, so I left after about an hour and had my boss handle the cancellation. The place was full of people hanging out, with dozens of shoeless kids running through the halls. That wasn’t the main problem by itself, but it added to how the room felt like a dirty apartment. It was humid and musty, with no amenities like a microwave. The whole place felt more like a housing project than a hotel. If you’re fine with the absolute bare minimum, it’s a bed in a room in a building.

The property feels a bit dated, with creaky wood floors even on the ground level, and I could hear people moving around in the room above. My room was clean, and the bed was softer than I prefer, so I only slept okay. I barely interacted with staff outside check-in and check-out, but they seemed nice enough.

The rugs were nasty, smelled bad, and clearly needed a deep clean. The bathroom floor felt greasy underfoot, like it had been mopped with a dirty mop. We also had to get new key cards every day because ours kept stopping working, and the front desk was unfriendly. The free breakfast was just coffee, dry cereal, and muffins. When we booked, they quoted a special weekly rate of 475.00, but we stayed only five nights and were charged 561+. We’ll never stay there again. Next time we come up from Texas, we’ll pay twice as much to stay anywhere but at Day Inn.
