Extended Stay America Select Suites - Atlanta - Marietta - Windy Hill

The bed was comfortable and bug free, and the bathroom was mostly clean, aside from splashes of something unknown on the door and walls. The rest of the room and the hall carpets were filthy. Notes from staff taped to the elevator about trash in the hall made me think some people had been living there long term. I didn't feel safe. Someone had sawed at the room door, and it wouldn't lock properly, so I pushed a chair against it and put a towel along the bottom. There wasn't a coffee maker in the room or lobby. Hotwire rated the place highly, and after 30+ years on the road for work, I'd trusted Hotwire for about 15 years without being disappointed. Now I wonder if companies pay industry people to boost ratings. I'll do my own homework on #TripAdvisor and other reliable rating sites from now on. I've liked this chain before, but this particular Extended Stay America doesn't represent what I've been pleased with elsewhere. Avoid this #ExtendedStay location.

WINDY HILL has been the best of the five Extended Stay places I've tried in Marietta. I judged it from the outside when I first arrived and expected all extended stay hotels to be the same. My expectations were low, but I was wrong. A short term situation in my life has lasted longer than I expected, and I've now been here for 3 months. I checked in for a week and knew after the first day I wasn't leaving. For now, this feels like a home instead of just a room. The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping, have been a big part of that. They work hard to make the stay meet what you need, and people greet you with a friendly, genuine attitude every day. I can't remember meeting so many people who seem to care about others they don't even know. It feels like more than just doing a job. I really appreciate them. I've stayed in 3 different rooms here, and they're all clean, smell fresh, and are smoke free. The windows open for air and ventilation while cooking. There's a 2 burner stovetop, a roomy fridge, and a freezer that gets cold quickly. The bathtubs and bathrooms are nice, and the shower gets some of the hottest water I've found in a hotel. After walking for 8 hrs at work, it feels great with some Epsom salt. The washer and dryers work well, and you can pay by tap or use quarters. There's lots of parking, and the place has felt safe enough for me to bring my children. A park is nearby, and pets are welcome. Most people clean up after their pets using the dog bags outside. The lot is well lit and quiet at night. I haven't seen a roach, though I do get a lady bug or two because of the tree near my window. I'll take lady bugs over water bugs. The location works well for me, with the highway close by but not loud enough to disturb me. There's also good shopping nearby, including two of our favorites within walking distance, Starbucks and Chick fil a. Guests mostly keep to themselves, but respond when spoken to, which is nice with so much going on in the world. I could go on, but WINDY HILL is the best in town. It has been worth the money for me, even though the cost can sometimes feel like money that could go toward owning something. Until then, I think it's the best bang for your buck. Check it out if you need to stay for however long. I say it's the last Extended stay because you might be happy to keep paying to extend your stay. Hope that makes sense 😂. Shout out to WINDY HILL for the spectacular customer service. Other hotels could learn what going above and beyond means, especially when it comes to keeping current and past guests. This has been home until Home. The staff deserve praise, and raises would be a good start.

I stayed here in 2011/12 and had a great experience then. This time it was the most roach infested place I've ever stayed. I went through a whole can of Raid in 5 days and the roaches kept coming. Never again.

Brian was great when I needed an early check in. He was kind and accommodating, and even checked the room himself to make sure it was clean and ready. Whenever I come here, he's smiling and has a great attitude. I really appreciated it.
