Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Sidney

We picked this place over the Comfort Inn because they said breakfast was included. At breakfast I told the front desk woman they were out of bacon, biscuits, and sausage. She said there was just one person doing breakfast and everything was made in one microwave. We waited 15 minutes, but none of it came out, and they wouldn't give us a discount. We ended up buying breakfast for the family at a gas station 20 miles down the interstate. We were traveling 10 hours to get home from vacation, so this cost us an extra 15 minutes at the hotel and another stop that added 30 minutes. That's 45 minutes lost and 42.00 spent on gas station breakfast. I won't stay there again. The Comfort inn is closer to the interstate and had a great breakfast when we stayed there a year prior.

We stayed here two years ago, and it was much better then. It's sad to see the new hotel deteriorating like this. An elevator is broken, the common areas are dirty, and someone was smoking a lot of weed in the stairwell by our room. It doesn't seem to be maintained well.

The biggest letdown was breakfast. It felt like the hotel was trying to cut costs and reduce waste: there were scrambled eggs and prepackaged sausage biscuits, but it would've been nicer to have biscuits, gravy, and sausage separately so you could choose. Fresh fruit meant one lonely apple, and mixed fruit from a #5 can had been portioned into cups and covered with Saran wrap. The front desk woman also restocked the breakfast, which she did fine, though I'd never seen that before. My daughter and I both got food and were disappointed. Otherwise, it was a good stay. The room was perfectly clean, and when I wiped surfaces with a towel, it came away clean too. I had seen reviews mentioning dust; I did spot it in hallway corners, where it looked like someone vacuumed but didn't use the wand where the vacuum couldn't reach. The hotel was quiet, which is unusual for Sidney hotels right off the interstate. This one is just far enough back and turned away from the road not to be noisy. I tried it on a recent trip, usually stay somewhere else in sidney, and was glad I gave the Fairfield a shot. There are too many hotels in Sidney for the number of people staying there, so I get that they're trying to cut costs.

On our road trip we had a nice stay, with a clean hotel and friendly staff. Breakfast was below par for this kind of hotel.
