Rodeway Inn & Conference Center

There were people hanging around in the parking lot at 2 a.m., messing about among broken beer bottles. The rooms looked ugly, and each had a huge window facing the hallway, so anyone walking by could see inside. The bathroom was still dirty. At the front desk, the overnight man was half asleep and had a nasty attitude. He demanded my ID and debit card without saying how much he was charging until I asked. He was rude the whole time. I'm not coming back.

For the low price, I've stayed in plenty of better hotels. The staff were reasonably helpful, but the building and rooms were awful, worn out, and smelled terrible. Most things looked like they were from the '80s. I won't even get into every little thing, like rust around the bathroom and sink or chipped furniture. The TV was tiny, there was no microwave or cooler, and we were short on pillows. There was a spider web on the ceiling. The doors opened straight to the outside, like a motel. Honestly, you'd be better off sleeping in your car than in that "hotel." It wasn't even worth two stars.

For a budget stay, the friendly, helpful staff and a clean room with a fairly comfortable bed made this a decent option if you don't mind worn-out decor. We enjoyed the clean pool and hot tub too. Still, the building has seen better days and needs an update. A few things were broken, and there was an abandoned muffler and tire in the side parking lot. We enjoyed the stay, but next time we're in town we'll probably look for an upgrade. The price is great, and people were kind, but the place feels neglected and a little sad.

Our room was clean and smelled nice, and the front desk secretary was polite and helpful. The hallways were another story, they smelled like a sewer. I don't know if they always smell that way or if there was a problem during our stay. It was a budget option, two nights cost less than one night at another hotel, but everything else was terrible.
