Stoney Creek Hotel Sioux City

The free breakfast is one of the best we've had. It's simple stuff like steamed eggs, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and gravy, plus a fun pancake machine that makes good pancakes. The kids also love the indoor/outdoor pool in winter. We come every year for my daughter's birthday because it's convenient if the weather turns bad and we don't have to reschedule. The lobby always looks gorgeous, but the rooms and pool area seem to need more upkeep, and each year the place feels a little more run down. We'll keep coming, but it's sad to see.

We paid good money for Stoney Creek, but the planning service was unacceptable. After months of waiting for pricing, I followed up in July. Angela Timmons took more than a month to reply, and all she offered was complimentary flavored drinks, as though that made up for being ignored. There was no urgency, follow-through, or accountability, and it felt like our wedding didn't matter to the sales manager. We overpaid for what we got and were treated poorly throughout. We got engaged in December 2024 and booked the venue in spring 2025 after two in-person meetings. Communication had been slow from the beginning, then got worse once we started discussing actual costs and vendor pricing. The venue itself is beautiful, but that doesn't excuse the management. If you're thinking about Stoney Creek for a wedding, know what you're getting: pretty venue, shitty service, poor management. Do better.

The courtyard is a great spot, and this has become my new go-to when I visit Sioux City. It was clean, quiet, and felt safe. Breakfast was great every day, with eggs, bacon, and even the makings for an egg and cheese sandwich. One day there was French toast with scrambled eggs and meat, and potatoes both days. Better than most.

We paid $235.26 for one night in a pet-friendly Theme Suite with Whirlpool, and brought our two dogs. At check-in, a sign said something like, “please call, I'm in the laundry room.” I didn't have my phone, so I had to wait for another guest to arrive and call. We could choose from the available themed rooms and picked the fishing room. The fireplace glass shield there was broken, with pieces in the edging and on the floor. It looked like someone had cleaned up the initial break already, so we asked to move. The front desk apologized, comped our dog fee, and let us choose again. We picked the golfer suite. Some balcony windows wouldn't stay open, and one nearly fell out when we tried because its track was shot. We liked opening the windows to hear the city, and the view was nicely lit. There were lots of lights around the room to change the feel. We'd stay again for the value.
