AmericInn by Wyndham Sioux Falls North

I’ve stayed at the American Inn by Wyndham several times and have never been disappointed. The breakfast was very good, and my room was clean. The staff were pleasant and helpful, too. If you’re looking for a motel in Sioux Falls, it’s right off I-29 at the exit for the Denny Sanford center.

I had booked online and had both a confirmation number and a receipt, but the employee said I wasn’t in their system and told me to figure it out. I showed her the receipt, bank transaction, confirmation email, and app, but she said the only option was to charge me again for a room. She told another employee she had therapy in ten minutes and someone else would need to deal with it. Then she called her manager and said a customer was yelling and claiming to have receipts, but had none for her hotel, and that she was “trying to help.” My 10-year-old daughter and I aren’t from the area. We booked ahead so we wouldn’t be stranded, and we’d done everything we could on our end. Fixing their system wasn’t something I could do unless they handed me their computer and passwords. There were no reasonable solutions, and the service and attitude were terrible. Thankfully, the hotel next door was great to deal with and helped us right away. Other guests told me this happens often at the Americinn in Sioux falls, and even explained how the employee could fix it. She seemed in over her head in a customer service job. Her therapy appointment wasn’t my business and didn’t excuse leaving the problem unresolved while she was on the clock. Edit: 10/17/2025. Google shows AmericInn Sioux Falls North off Russel St with “The Dakota” next door. That’s the hotel I went to, and I ended up staying at The Dakota.

The staff were tremendous and very helpful, even pitching in with some business-related issues. I also got several good suggestions for food and other services. The room was great, too. The gym was pretty depressing, though, so I’ll find another one next time I’m in town.

The staff here really take your experience seriously. They made sure I had the amenities I needed and could get answers to my questions. The person checking me in seemed to take real ownership of the job, almost like the owner, which is rare and stood out to me. There’s a great pool, a nice bar area, and happy hour. Sometimes you can get free drink tickets through orbits, which is why those are in the photos. They show popular games on TV, so you can stay and watch instead of driving somewhere. The breakfast area is large, parking is good, and the hotel is easy to find off the main highway. Rooms are clean and roomy, and I liked that the towels weren’t paper thin.
